# FAQ

> The questions people ask most about numbers, prompts, content, publishing, settings and accounts.

The questions that come up most often when a screen or a number is confusing, grouped by area. Every answer links to the page that explains it in full.

## Reading the numbers

<AccordionGroup>
<Accordion title="Which number is "the" score?">
Mention rate — how often AI answers name your brand. Share of voice and mention rank tell you where you sit against competitors. All three are defined on [Visibility](/dashboard/visibility).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="What does the change next to the big number compare against?">
The immediately preceding window of the same length. On a 7-day view it is the previous 7 days; on 90 days, the previous 90. If there was no measurement in that prior window, the change is hidden rather than shown as zero.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="My mention rate is high but my share of voice is low. Why?">
Mention rate counts how often you appear. Share of voice measures how much of the brand conversation is yours, weighting how early in the answer you appear and how much text you get. Always named last, in one line, gives you a high mention rate and a low share. See [Visibility](/dashboard/visibility).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Is mention rank better high or low?">
Low. Rank 1 is the best result, which is why the change badge on that metric is inverted.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Why does the citation number look so small next to pageviews?">
The headline on a citation card is the **latest measured day**, not the period total. Pageviews and referral sessions are period totals, so do not compare the two directly. [Performance](/dashboard/performance) explains it.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="I see a dash, or "verifying", instead of a number.">
A dash means the value could not be read for this scope — it is not a zero. While response data is under integrity verification, Anymorph withholds the number rather than publishing one that would read as a decline. It returns when verification finishes.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="My citation numbers don't match my mention numbers.">
They count different things. A mention is your brand named in the answer text; a citation is a link attached to the answer. An answer can cite your page without ever naming you. See [Citation](/dashboard/citation).
</Accordion>

## Prompts

<AccordionGroup>
<Accordion title="I edited a prompt and nothing changed.">
Edits are staged, not applied. Open the version history and press **Save version** to put them into the live panel. The **N to save** badge in the header is the reminder. See [Editing prompts](/guides/editing-prompts).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="How often are my prompts asked?">
Once a day, at your workspace's scheduled hour, across every AI engine your plan covers. Days that come back incomplete are automatically re-run for up to a week afterwards.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Why do prompts with my brand name in them barely move my score?">
On purpose. A prompt that names your brand directly is weighted at 10% of a normal prompt, so asking "is Acme any good?" cannot inflate your visibility.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Does deleting a prompt delete its history?">
No. The prompt leaves the panel and stops being measured, but past versions that contained it stay viewable and past responses stay attributed to those versions. See [Prompts](/dashboard/prompts).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Can the agent change my prompts without asking?">
No. Every create, update and delete arrives as an approval card, and nothing runs until you press **Approve**. You can edit the proposed wording first. See [Agent](/dashboard/agent).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="My mention rate dropped right after a prompt panel change.">
A new version asks different questions, so the basis of the measurement changed — the two numbers are not the same measurement. The screens scope to one version at a time for exactly this reason. Compare within a version, not across one.
</Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Content

<AccordionGroup>
<Accordion title="Do I have to press save on a knowledge document?">
No. Typing autosaves about 1.5 seconds after you stop, and the readout says **Auto-saved to version \[n]**. The writers read the live document, so a corrected fact applies from the next generation run. See [Knowledge](/dashboard/knowledge).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Will editing knowledge rewrite pages that already exist?">
No. Existing pages stay pinned to the document version they were written from. Edits apply from the next generation run onward.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Should a correction go in Brand.md or Content.md?">
Brand.md is what is true; Content.md is how it must be written. Product facts, proof points and forbidden claims go in Brand.md; tone, structure and phrasing rules go in Content.md. See [Knowledge feedback loop](/guides/knowledge-feedback-loop).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="How many pages do I get, and when?">
A fixed weekly number set on your workspace, generated in one run at **06:00 on Monday in your workspace's timezone**. Drafts appear on the **Preview** tab one by one as each finishes, so expect them through Monday morning.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Can I ask for more pages right now?">
Not with a button. What you can do any time is **New page**, which writes one page with you in the chat and does not count against your weekly page count. See [On-site](/dashboard/on-site).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="What's the difference between Failed and Excluded?">
**Failed** means writing or building broke. **Excluded** means the page was never written at all — the pre-check found it duplicated an existing topic or address.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Do I have to mark a page Reviewed before publishing?">
No. Review state is bookkeeping and blocks nothing — **Publish** works from any state. See [Reviewing content](/guides/reviewing-content).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Does saving in the editor change my live site?">
Not on a draft or preview page — **Save** commits a new version and rebuilds the preview only. Only **Update live page**, which appears on an already-published page, changes the public site. See [Page editor](/dashboard/page-editor).
</Accordion>

## Publishing and indexing

<AccordionGroup>
<Accordion title="Where does a published page actually live?">
On the domain you connected (`yourdomain.com/the-path`, or under `/a/…` on subpath routing). The `…anymorph.app` address you see before publishing is the preview, not the destination. See [Connect your domain](/guides/connect-domain).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Publish says I have no custom domain.">
Publishing requires an active custom domain. Finish the connection on [Settings → Domain](/settings/domain) and the button works.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="How long until a published page is live?">
Publishing starts immediately and the page moves to the **Live** tab when it lands. It is usually minutes, but the work is asynchronous — the button returning is not the same as the page being live.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Being live isn't the same as being in Google, right?">
Correct. Live means it serves on your domain; indexing is Google's separate decision. Use **Request index** on the **Live** tab — steps are in [Search Console and indexing](/guides/search-console-indexing).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Do I need Google indexing for ChatGPT to cite me?">
No. ChatGPT and Perplexity crawl independently and regularly cite pages Google never indexed. That is why [Overview](/dashboard/overview) shows published, indexed and cited as three separate numbers.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="I requested indexing a week ago and nothing happened.">
After 7 days the **Requested (D+n)** dot turns red. Check the page really opens, that your Search Console property covers that exact address, and that `robots.txt` allows the path.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Do I have to connect anything for off-site channels?">
No. The editorial sites and Tistory blogs belong to Anymorph and you hand over no accounts. Your job is reviewing and approving the drafts. See [Off-site](/dashboard/off-site).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Off-site posts show no pageviews. Is that broken?">
No. Those posts publish on someone else's site, so Anymorph's tracking is not on them. Citations and index status are the performance signal there, by design.
</Accordion>

## Settings and integrations

<AccordionGroup>
<Accordion title="Will my site's GA4 tag track the generated pages?">
Not automatically, because Anymorph serves those pages. Enter your GA4 measurement ID or GTM container ID under [Custom scripts](/settings/custom-scripts) and the tags are injected into them.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Do I need Search Console connected?">
Not to use the product. You need it for the **AI search impressions** card, per-page index status and automatic sitemap submission. Everything else works without it.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Do I need GA4?">
Only for the **AI referral traffic** card. Without it that card simply does not appear and nothing else breaks. See [AI engine conversions](/guides/ai-engine-conversions).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Do I need to buy an SSL certificate?">
No. The certificate is issued automatically once your CNAME record resolves. Until then the domain card shows an **SSL \[status]** badge.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="My root domain won't accept a CNAME.">
A CNAME at the root needs a DNS provider that flattens it (Cloudflare, Namecheap). If yours does not, connect a subdomain such as `pages.example.com`. See [Connect your domain](/guides/connect-domain).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="AI answers call us by a nickname. Does it count?">
Only if you add that spelling to **Brand name aliases** on your brand profile. The same applies to competitors — mentions are matched against their registered names only. See [Profile](/settings/profile).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="We run a separate blog domain. Do its citations count as ours?">
Add it under **Other owned domains**. Its citations then bucket as Owned, and its subdomains are covered automatically.
</Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Account and team

<AccordionGroup>
<Accordion title="Who can invite people or delete the workspace?">
Workspace **Admins** only. Members see no **Add Member** button and get **Leave Workspace** instead of delete. Deleting also requires typing `delete` to confirm. See [Team](/settings/team).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="What changes when I upgrade?">
The plan applies at once and you are charged the prorated difference. Downgrades also apply at once, with a credit on the next invoice, and cancelling keeps access until the end of the period. See [Plan](/settings/plan).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="We run several brands.">
One brand is one workspace. Use **Create Workspace** in the workspace switcher at the top to start a new brand's setup.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Can I get the report emailed weekly?">
No. There is one report per workspace, always the latest, and it is not delivered by email. Download the PDF and share it yourself. See [Report](/dashboard/report).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Can I use this on my phone?">
No. Below tablet width the app shows a message asking you to continue on a laptop or desktop.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Will I be told when new pages are ready?">
Yes. When generation finishes, workspace members get a "\[n] new pages ready" email. Connect Slack and you also get new recommendations, page generation results and visibility reports in a channel. Set it up in [Integrations](/settings/integrations).
</Accordion>
